Vice President JD Vance at the American Dynamism Summit put an emphasis on manufacturing and job creation that voters should keep in mind as they consider which congressmembers they will elect to support the Trump administration's agenda in coming years.

Vance touted recent gains in the auto industry and said 9,000 jobs were created in that industry just last month (February 2025). Those jobs follow years of stagnation. Trump is only a couple months in and he is already turning the industry around as support gets offered to Detroit and other automaker cities.

Job creation and economic growth is vital to Southwest Ohio, too, and that support is coming from this administration. It also starts with our local leaders working with it to ensure success here.

Vance also offered assurance on the impact of globalization and immigration on American jobs and wages, zeroing on the Trump administration's campaign platform that stands at the forefront. He said statistics show that in February 2025, a month after Trump took office, more jobs went to legal U.S. citizens than they had for the whole year prior. And illegal crossings into the U.S. were down 94%.

But the biggest takeaway for me was Vance's "lean in" attitude toward embracing AI, or artificial intelligence. Technology is scaring me as much as it is everyone else: Who can even tell what is actually a real video when they are scrolling Facebook and Instagram Reels?

AI is not going to slow down, and we have to embrace it. That starts at the top, and Vance is pushing the message that we all must support innovation and understand how it works. It's truly the only way Americans can stay competitive with other countries and keep business here on U.S. soil. AI is huge in foreign countries so it must be that way here, too.

Does this mean you need an AI-bot cleaning your kitchen or babysitting the grandkids? Absolutely not. But it does mean supporting the businesses of this nation using it for good to keep us on top.

Making purchases of items made here over another country is a good start. It is crucial for our economic prosperity.
