Conversations on illegal immigration and deportation enforcement are heated because of the idea that this is steeped in racism. President Donald Trump, long before officially returning to the White House, explained it on the campaign trail -- there is simply a need to have law and order. People who enter the country have to follow the rules: There are documents required for legal entry. Admission into the United States comes with effort.

It's about understanding and having comprehensive knowledge of who is residing within the borders of our country, particularly focusing on the individuals who may not have legal status. This awareness is crucial for implementing effective measures aimed at reducing and ultimately preventing violence that can be associated with illegal immigrants -- ensuring the safety and security of our legal residents. The implications of this understanding extend beyond mere identification; it involves a strategic approach to law enforcement and community safety that prioritizes the well-being of citizens.

It is essential to recognize that illegal immigration is often linked to various criminal activities, including the trafficking of illegal drugs. Every day, significant quantities of narcotics are smuggled into our communities, frequently facilitated by individuals who enter the country without proper documentation. This illicit drug trade not only poses a threat to public health but also contributes to an increase in crime rates, which can have devastating effects on neighborhoods and families.

Addressing the issue of illegal immigration is not merely a matter of policy but a critical component of safeguarding our communities from the multifaceted dangers posed by drug trafficking and associated violence.

It is an America-first mentality that spurs the concern. We want our citizens to be safe, and anyone who comes over our borders to be crime- and drug-free. That's the ultimate goal.
